Episode 31: Life Is All About Perspective

Soness StevensSoness Stevens is the Head Speaker Coach for multiple TEDx events and has coached over 109 TED & TEDx speakers. She represented Japan for TED Worldwide, spoke at TEDxFukuoka and TEDxWasedaU.

Soness has a weekly nationwide broadcast TV show on communications and is an Associate Professor of business presentation skills at YNU. You may have seen her on NHK TV and Fox TV Japan, or heard her as the official English voice of Hello Kitty. She lives near the beach and practices Zazen Meditation at her local temple in Japan.

I’m so grateful to have Soness Stevens on the show and I’m so thankful for her willingness to share with us her intimate and very personal life journey living with a mother who was suffering from mental illness.

For a good half of her young life she lived in a car with her mother and brother. They were constantly on the move, running from landlords because her mother didn’t have a job and could not afford to pay rent. Despite growing up in such a difficult circumstance, drifting from place to place, Soness went on and became a beautiful, positive and successful individual. Her ability to see life in colours as a child is truly inspiring!

Episode 29: Time Will Heal

Episode 29: Time Will Heal - Amanda RayRape is an epidemic issue around the globe. It could happen to anyone of us, regardless of our race, gender, sexual orientation or religion. Especially children, women, the elderly and people with physical and mental disabilities are easy targets of rape because of their vulnerability.

My friend Amanda is one of the rape victims and survivors. After she had lived with the shame and guilt for many decades, she’s ready to face her demons and deal with the horrific past head on. I’m grateful that she’s willing to share her journey with us today with the hope that she could inspire and bring some comfort for some of you out there that have gone through the terrible ordeal by sharing her story.

Episode 28: Energy Flows Where Attention Goes

Episode 28: Energy Flows Where Attention Goes - Savannah SheaWhen we have a problem, we are always looking for a way to solve that problem. The trouble with this approach is that energy flows where attention goes – so if we’re not careful and conscious we can end up having all our energy sucked up in experiencing the problem, rather than finding a solution.

When we dwell on the negatives, we attract negatives, sapping our energy and strength in the process.

So be careful what you’re focusing on every day. Make sure you focus on the positive things that you want and not on your problems.

Today I’m talking to a fine young lady on this very subject. Savannah will explain how to get rid of the negative thinking, attract good energy and bring what we truly desire into our lives.

If you’re tired of living under a perpetual rain cloud, listen to our conversation.

Episode 8: Mid-life Crisis

Maria AllynMid-life crisis. Time for that Harley, the sports car, the younger love interest, or to get some work done on yourself. That’s the stereotype. And like most stereotypes it leaves a lot out.

Not everyone experiencing a mid-life crisis enjoy themselves. And I am not talking just about the protagonist, but the people around – the spouse, the kids, the siblings, the parents, the friends, you get the idea.

I am not going through a mid life crisis, at least not that I know of. But I do know people who are going through it now and I am sure so do you.

I recently spoke on this very topic with Maria Allyn and recorded our conversation for today’s episode. Maria is a mid-life crisis coach who spent her last 8 years helping women to get over this hurdle.

If you want to find out more about mid-life crisis, how it affects people and how to deal with it, you must listen to this week’s episode.

I hope you’ll find our discussion informative.

As always I welcome your feedback. Please post your comments online or drop me a line at [email protected]. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Episode 4: How to deal with anxiety and change your state instantly

Sean 'TS' Redmond Sean ‘TS’ Redmond started his first coach training in 1997. He’s now a highly skilled and experienced business, leadership and team coach.

He was assessed in the top 1% in Australia for Abstract Reasoning (thinking outside the box if you like). He also gained an MBA in 2003 and has held executive positions in a number of different industries.

But that’s not the reason why I have Sean on the show.

I invited Sean for a talk because he has an inspiring story to share. Sean struggled with anxiety and depression for two decades. On several occasions he tried to take his own life. But after 20 years fighting the battle Sean beat the depression and turned his life around. Today he’s helping and teaching others how to defeat the depression in faster and more effective ways.
